PLATFORM FOR PARENT INTERACTION
CBHS identified the need for additional communication amongst parents, staff and pupils, vital to the success of our school. Research strongly supports school-parent partnerships as effective in improving both school climate and student performance. Thus, a new Parent Liaison Body (PLB) at CBHS has been initiated. It is not a decision-making body, nor is it involved in the management of the school.
The PLB is set out to provide a platform to parents at CBHS, through communication, consulting, organizing and delegating. Parent Liaisons are parent members who work in the school to serve as a communication link between home and school. A Parent Liaison is a consultant, not an employee, and all contacts are confidential. Parent Liaisons assist parents and the school in creating a cooperative partnership focused solely on the needs of the pupils. The Parent Liaison, under the supervision of the principal and Parent Liaison Body head will assist to increase and improve parent/family and community involvement in CBHS.
MEMBERS OF THE PARENT LIAISON BODY
- help you get the information and assistance you need to support your child at home and to ensure your child’s scholastic success
- help families get familiar with the school system, the school’s culture, policies, procedures, and practices
- can connect you with the appropriate people within the school or community who can help you meet your child’s needs.
- establish and build successful working relationships with the families of all pupils in the school
- appreciate the school’s cultural diversity and work to foster unity, cohesiveness, and cooperation among all families.
THE PURPOSE OF THE PLB
- PROVIDE a forum to facilitate parent participation in CBHS by offering advice and feedback to the Principal, staff and governors
- SOURCE a base of parents with special skills and resources to assist the many needs for CBHS academic, sport, social or events
- FOSTER friendly school community development
- CREATE a sense of CBHS pride amongst families and pupils
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Annual membership commences at the start of the 3rd term each year. The PLB is still in need of five more members per grade to represent each of the tutor classes. A new Gr 8 member will be appointed within the first two weeks of the new year.
